Kia confirms the EV2’s global debut on January 9 at the Brussels Motor Show.

The Kia EV lineup keeps growing, and this time it’s going small. Kia has confirmed that its newest electric model, the EV2, will make its global debut at the Brussels Motor Show on January 9, 2026. The EV2 will be the smallest member of Kia’s electric vehicle family, following the EV5, EV6, and EV9.

The Korean automaker released teaser images showing the production version of the EV2 covered in a sheet, but its shape gives away much of the final design. The SUV keeps the boxy silhouette and compact proportions of the concept first shown at Kia EV Day 2025. The production version will also feature a squared-off front, a kinked waistline, and a roof spoiler, all carried over from the concept design.

Kia made some changes to meet safety and practicality requirements, such as a slightly longer front overhang, a B-pillar, and more conventional daytime running lights (DRLs). While the automaker has not shared the full cabin layout, it did confirm that the EV2 will feature a “roomy, adjustable interior space” that can transform through folding seats and a flat floor setup similar to the original concept.

The EV2 will be built in Europe to serve the region’s growing electric vehicle demand. It will use a 400-volt charging system instead of the faster 800-volt setup used in Kia’s larger EVs. Power is expected to come from a single front-mounted motor, even for the higher trims such as the GT variant, which will keep costs lower.

While Kia has yet to reveal final specs, reports suggest that the EV2 will share much of its platform with the Hyundai Inster, which offers 39 kWh and 46 kWh battery options, 327 to 369 km of range, and up to 113 hp (84 kW). The EV2 may offer similar performance with slight improvements in efficiency and range.

The EV2 is expected to arrive in dealerships by 2026, with prices starting around €30,000 (approximately P1.9 million). This would place it among competitors like the Renault 4 E-Tech and other compact electric SUVs aimed at making EV ownership more accessible.
