Kia marked a major milestone this week, throwing an 80th-anniversary celebration that felt equal parts retrospective and teaser for what’s coming next. The party unfolded at Kia Vision Square in Yongin, just outside Seoul, where executives, employees, alumni, and about 400 guests gathered to look back at eight decades of grit and evolution, and of course, to get a glimpse of the brand’s next chapter.
The major star of the show is Kia’s latest concept: the Vision Meta Turismo. This machine isn’t just a styling exercise; it’s a manifesto for Kia’s idea of future mobility. The exterior follows the company’s “Opposites United” design philosophy, a blend of flowing surfaces and crisp geometry that lands somewhere between grand tourer and sci-fi cruiser. Inside, it leans hard into the idea of the car as a human-centered space, with digital tech woven into a lounge-like cabin meant to enhance both connection and immersion.
The concept revisits three classic grand-touring themes—performance, digital engagement, and long-range comfort—through a modern lens, echoing some of the spirit Kia once explored with the Stinger. Its most intriguing feature is the next-gen steering interface, which anchors three distinct digital drive modes: Speedster, Dreamer, and Gamer. Each mode taps an advanced AR head-up display that layers three-dimensional graphics over the road ahead, thanks to integrated smart glass, which Kia says is designed to blur the line between virtual and real-world driving cues.
Kia is keeping full details under wraps for now, but Executive Vice President and design chief Karim Habib hinted at the bigger picture, framing the Vision Meta Turismo as a symbol of the brand’s mission to fuse dynamic mobility with spaces built around people. If this concept is any indication, Kia’s next decade could be as adventurous as the eighty years that led up to it.
