Finally, after months of delay, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has announced that they have opened 25 sites to cater applicants for the driver's license, student's permit, and conductor's license and for the releasing of renewed driver’s license.
But isn't there a problem regarding the issuing of licenses? Yes, there is but here's the good news about it. LTO has awarded the contract of supplying 5 million pieces of license cards over a years period to Allcards Plastic.
Now for the somewhat best part, LTO will begin printing and issuing licenses beginning October this year.
Also, in an effort of erasing more than 900,000 worth of backlogs, LTO will be releasing licenses after office hours on weekdays and even on Saturdays according to LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Alfonso Tan, Jr. The 25 sites that are located in Metro Manila, Region 3, Region 4-A, and 8 have been activated to not only cater for new applicants but will also be issuing the licenses for those who have not yet received their renewed license.
The license cards will also be in new color-coded designs – orange cards for student drivers, yellow cards for conductors, and blue for both professional and non-professional drivers.
