Maserati reveals refreshed Quattroporte

After selling more than 24,000 units in 72 countries since its launch, the Maserati Quattroporte receives a facelift. The Italian carmaker adds significant upgrades that further add to its elegant appeal, without forgetting its personality as a sports saloon.

Aside from the refreshed exterior and interior trims, the 2017 Quattroporte has new high-technology features and added trims.

The exterior upgrades in the 2017 Quattroporte can be seen with is prominent chrome front grille that complements the vehicle’s shark nose bonnet. The Quattroporte is also fitted with matte black accents which can be seen on the front bumper, side mirrors, and rear bumper. 

One notable new feature is the electronically adjustable Air Shutter placed in the front grille. Maserati says it controls the engine’s fluid temperature and improves the aerodynamic drag by 10%.

Compared to its predecessor, the 2017 Quattroporte’s interior has been subtly redesigned, but one of its main star is the new capacitive high resolution 8.4-inch screen with multi touch function which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Its integration with the whole dashboard is seamless – from the head unit to the climate control to the new drawer.

Another new addition is the rotary knob for volume and function control. It is located at the lower console which allows the driver to control certain functions without taking their eyes off the road.

Aside from the aesthetics, the refreshed Quattroporte is also available with an array of Driver Assistance Systems. This includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop&Go, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning with Advanced Brake Assist and Automated Emergency Braking. A Surround View Camera can also come as an option to the buyer.

More importantly, it’s equipped with an Air Quality Sensor that calculates the external pollution level and prevents toxic gases from entering the cabin. Pretty useful especially with the level of pollution that we have these days.

The new top-of-the-line Maserati Quattroporte is available in two trims. Both with names that correlates to their English meaning.

The GranLusso trim features subtle chrome details outside. Inside, it comes with Ermenegildo Zegna Edition interior theme that features patented silk fabric on the seats, doors, headliner, and sunvisor.

On the other hand, the GranSport trim reflects the racing heritage of the Italian marque. It has aggressive details that further exhumes a sporty character. To complete this look, it comes standard with 21-inch Titano rims with red brake calipers.

Under the hood, the new Quattroporte is still available in 4 engine options. The 3.8L V8 GTS still produces 530 hp and 710 Nm of torque, while the 3.0L V6 S Q4 can churn out 410 hp and 550 Nm.

There’s also a 350 hp 3.0L V6 that delivers 20 hp more than the outgoing version however this engine is not available locally. Completing the range of engines is the 3.0L V6 Turbo diesel that generates 275 hp and 600 Nm of torque. All engines are mated to a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission.  

The new facelifted Maserati Quattroporte is set to roll out this month in the US. However, there are no reports yet as to when Maserati Philippines will bring the refreshed version here. We’re pretty sure that fans of the Italian carmaker will go crazy over the new look of the Quattroporte once it reaches our shores.
