Mazda has introduced the MX-5 RF Launch Edition, limited to 1,000 units in the US. As a review, the MX-5 RF was first previewed as a concept car at this year’s New York International Auto Show.
According to Mazda North American Operations (MNAO), the production spec MX-5 RF Launch Edition is meant for a select group of customers that will be given time to pre-order the said vehicle. If the time has elapsed, their “reserved” unit will then be open to public orders. Moreover, new owners of this roadster will receive a custom-designed, numbered 42mm Tourneau watch.
MX-5 has enjoyed 27 years of being the world’s best-selling roadster, being named 2016 World Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year and receiving hundreds, if not thousands, of other accolades. Rarely does any automaker have a vehicle that garners the sort of loyalty and enthusiasm MX-5 generates - something we don’t take lightly,” said Robert Davis, senior VP, U.S. Operations, MNAO.
The MX-5 RF Launch edition will be available with a special Machine Gray Metallic color scheme and Auburn Nappa leather interior trim with a hand-painted black roof panel.
The exclusive roadster will have a 155 hp 2.0L SkyActiv gasoline engine which is then mated to a choice of a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed Sport automatic with paddle shifters.
