Mazda Motors UK will debut a special edition of the latest MX-5 at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Labeled as the MX-5 Icon, it’s the first special edition for the all-new model’s 1.5 SE-L Nav variant and the 4th model to wear the Icon badge.
It comes in 2 body colors; Meteor Grey Mica or Crystal White Pearlescent. It also flaunts Soul Red Metallic painted rear spoiler, side mirrors, and front bumper lip spoiler to visually set it apart from the regular variants.
In addition, a set of 16-inch Gunmetal alloy wheels is thrown in together with additional equipment such as black leather seats, rear parking sensor, dusk-sensing headlights, and rain-sensing wipers.
Under the hood is a 1.5L inline 4-cylinder SkyActiv-G gasoline engine that churns out 131 hp.
“The UK has played a huge part in the MX-5 success story and the Icon follows a long tradition of special edition MX-5s that allow customers to have a stand out vehicle which is truly affordable, says Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director of Mazda Motors UK.
In line with his statement, the brand announced that starting August 1, 2016, the Mazda MX-5 Icon will be available in the UK. But here’s the catch; interested buyers must hurry as this special edition roadster is only limited to just 600 units.
