Adding to its list of accolades, the Mazda MX-5 was recently named as the 2017 Play Car of the Year by the U.S. based automotive website Cars.com. The award is given to the vehicle that provides the most fun driving experience according to the judges of the said website.
The world’s best-selling roadster (according to the Guinness Book of World Records) managed to impress the judges in all 3 key criteria - quality, innovation, and value. This 2-door sports car was able to beat the likes of the 2017 Land Rover Range Rover SUV and the 2017 Volkswagen Golf GTI hatchback.
Aside from that, the judges from Cars.com found that the MX-5’s front mounted engine, rear-wheel-drive, and balanced weight distribution were just a few more reasons why it was fun to drive. Moreover, the fact that the roof can be easily and manually folded down adds to more driving pleasure behind the wheel. If you don't want to retract the roof on your own, you would need the MX-5 RF for that.
Mazda says that the current MX-5 model was a result of all the innovations and refinements from the previous 4 generations. Engineers were not only able to make this roadster lighter, the driving and handling dynamics make it one of the world’s most favourite 2-door convertible sports car on the road today.
Cars.com is an automotive website that helps consumers connect to local dealers in the U.S. – the equivalent of AutoDeal.com.ph. The company was founded in 1998 and is based in Chicago.
