Mazda teases CX-8’s exterior design

Mazda’s upcoming new 7-seater crossover SUV is only for the Japanese market.

SUVs and Japanese have something in common ­– being family-oriented. As such, Mazda Motor Corporation is about to introduce a new 7-seater crossover SUV, the CX-8, in Japan.   

Similar to other SUVs, the CX-8 comes with 3-row seats. Mazda Japan thoroughly chose the interior parts of this crossover SUV from its color up to the materials they used.

What about the exterior? From the looks of it, the CX-8 is integrated with sharp character lines, aggressive sweptback headlights, and distinctive taillights. In other words, Mazda’s upcoming crossover SUV shares similarities to its bigger sibling, the CX-9.

It is then powered by the 2.2-litre SkyActiv-D diesel engine and has a 6-speed automatic transmission. However, Mazda has yet to release the CX-8’s power output rating.   

The Mazda CX-8 is scheduled to be available before the end of 2017 but, like what we said earlier, this is a Japan-only model.
