Mercedes-Benz PH launches 2017 E-Class

Auto Nation Group, Inc., the official distributor of Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the Philippines, has launched the 2017 E-Class featuring a stylish, sporty exterior, a refined interior, and an advanced tech. Locally, the E200 is the first E-Class to be released and it is available in 3 exterior trims: Avantgarde, Exclusive, and AMG-Line.    

Up front, the 2017 E-Class is fitted with sharp-looking LED headlights, an elongated hood, a large bumper, and a wide grille. Turning at the side, this luxury sedan is characterized by sharp lines, prominent wheel arches, and a sloped roofline. The rear, on the other hand, has wraparound LED taillights featuring a two-bar design.

Size-wise, the 2017 E-Class has bigger dimensions as compared to its predecessor. Its overall length increased by 44 mm (4,923 mm vs. 4,879 mm) while its wheelbase has grown by 66 mm (2,939 mm vs. 2,873 mm). It’s also 70 kg lighter than the previous model.

Inside, Mercedes-Benz PH says the E-Class combines elegance and sportiness along with high-grade materials. It has a widescreen cockpit, which contains two displays (12.3 inches each) with screen design that can be customized based on three preference styles: “Classic,” “Sport,” and “Progressive.” The E-Class’ 3-spoke steering wheel is integrated with touch buttons that enables the driver to control the infotainment system through a swipe of a finger. It also has ambient lighting that’s visible in the central display, handle recesses, overhead console, and door pockets.  

In addition, the 2017 E-Class comes with a number of advanced tech features. It has Active Brake Assist, a standard feature that warns the driver of impending collisions and activates emergency brakes when necessary. Another safety feature of the 2017 E-Class is the Attention Assist which alerts the driver when he or she is getting inattentive or drowsy.

The Drive Pilot, on the other hand, is an optional feature that follows road markings and intuitively adjusts to the speed of traffic ahead. The E-Class can also assist the driver to maintain the vehicle on its lane by preventing it from unintentional swerving while the Active Lane Change Assist allows the car to move on its own once it detects a clear lane, similar to autonomous driving technology.

The 2017 E200 is powered by a 2.0L inline 4-cylinder gas engine that delivers 184 hp and 300 Nm of torque. Mercedes-Benz claims that the E200 can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds before reaching a top speed of 240 km/h.

The prices for the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class are as follows: E200 Exclusive P4,390,000; E200 Avantgarde P4,390,000; and E200 AMG-Line P4,790,000.
