MG Philippines begins sales of the G50 PHEV in the country

The first customer units of the G50 PHEV have been officially handed over.

Retail sales of the MG G50 PHEV are now officially underway in the Philippines, with SAIC Motor Philippines Incorporated kicking things off with a key handover ceremony at its Alabang dealership last Sunday.

The event marked more than just a sales launch. Two of the model's first buyers were formally handed the keys in front of the crowd, putting faces to what has otherwise been a very numbers-driven story. Mauro Cortez, a business owner, picked up the G50 PHEV with plans to put it to work for his furniture business. Reginald Gregorio, on the other hand, went for it for simpler reasons: more room for the family on daily drives.

The G50 PHEV debuted at the Manila International Auto Show back in April, and in the weeks that followed, it racked up over 800 reservations. That kind of response shows a sign of strong market interest and most importantly, a warm reception from Filipino buyers.

On paper, the G50 PHEV makes a reasonable case for itself. For families dealing with Metro Manila traffic or the occasional provincial trip, that kind of flexibility is a practical selling point rather than just a spec sheet number.
