MG Motor Philippines is set to expand its electrification push with the local debut of the new MG S5 EV. The arrival of the marque’s new EV will also headline the launch of the brand’s MG New Energy Tour 2026.
The event is scheduled for August 27, 2026, at the Trinoma Activity Center in Manila. Aside from introducing the all-electric compact crossover, MG will also use the occasion to kick off its nationwide roadshow, which aims to bring the brand’s electrified vehicles and technologies closer to Filipino motorists.
Of course, the MG S5 EV will be the main attraction at the Manila launch. According to MG, the S5 with its rear-wheel drive combines the practicality of a crossover with an electric powertrain and a sportier driving layout. MG is positioning the model as an option for motorists looking for an EV that can handle everyday commutes and errands while still offering an engaging drive for weekend trips.
The S5 EV’s arrival also signals a broader effort from MG to introduce more Filipinos to the different forms of electrified mobility now available in the market. That effort will continue through the MG New Energy Tour 2026. Following its Manila launch, the roadshow will travel to different parts of the country, bringing MG’s Hybrid+, plug-in hybrid, and battery electric models directly to prospective customers.
Visitors will have the chance to take a closer look at the vehicles, learn more about their respective technologies, and experience some of the features through interactive activities. Test drives will also be part of the tour, allowing motorists to get a more hands-on feel for MG’s electrified lineup before deciding which type of powertrain fits their needs.
The roadshow is expected to visit more regions in the coming months, giving more motorists outside Metro Manila an opportunity to experience MG’s New Energy vehicles firsthand. With electrified models becoming a larger part of the local automotive market, the brand is also looking to make the differences between hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric vehicles easier for consumers to understand.
