The MG4 EV Xpower has been recently unveiled and it is MG’s latest performance hatchback version of the MG4 EV. Equipped with a dual-motor electric powertrain, this eagerly awaited zero-emission hot hatch will make a public appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 13, where it will be showcased alongside a racing-inspired concept and the equally anticipated Cyberster roadster.
Powering the MG4 XPower are a pair of electric motors arranged in an all-wheel drive setup, forming the core of its performance capabilities. This configuration delivers an impressive combined system output of 429 hp and a robust torque of 600 Nm. To further enhance its performance, the MG4 XPower is equipped with a Dynamic Cornering Control System, featuring an electronic locking differential and torque vectoring. This advanced system optimizes grip and traction, ensuring maximum control and stability during cornering maneuvers. Thanks to this powertrain setup, the "most powerful production MG ever" can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in an astonishing 3.8 seconds.
The suspension of the MG4 XPower has undergone careful adjustments, including recalibrated spring and damper tuning, along with stiffer anti-roll bars and enhanced steering response. MG has increased the overall stiffness of the suspension by up to 25 percent, significantly improving the vehicle's handling dynamics. Bridgestone Turanza tires offer excellent grip, ensuring optimal traction on various road surfaces. Stopping the MG4 XPower are large 345 mm disc brakes on all four corners, allowing for consistent and powerful braking.
Though the MG4 XPower’s looks are virtually unchanged save for the paint, painted brake calipers, polished trim accents, and the exclusive racing green paint, the MG4 XPower can run circles around its non-performance version any day. The MG4 XPower has already been introduced in the UK market and is set to compete with formidable contenders like the Volkswagen ID.3.
