For this year’s Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), Motor Image Pilipinas (MIP) pulled off the wraps on 2 new Subaru vehicles. The first is the all-new Legacy and its crossover brother which is this, the all-new Outback.
It’s now bolder, more rugged-looking, and ready to go on- and off- the road with its bigger tires, shaded by its more muscular fenders. Of course, Subaru injected a bit of adrenalin into the Outback’s design. A glance on its side reveals a sporty streamlined look, just like its predecessor . However, by improving the air-flow over the rear of the vehicle, wind resistance is further reduced which improves fuel economy.
The Outback’s interior sets passengers in the mood for a more engaging journey. Aside from the premium-grade leather seats, it also houses a dual-zone automatic climate control, and a single-CD premium audio system with AUX/USB ports, routed through 12 Harman Kardon speakers. Driving information is displayed via 3.5-inch full-color LCD, plus a host of driving conveniences like cruise control and paddle shifters are standard, as well.
At the heart of the all-new Outback is a redesigned FB25 3.6L 6-cylinder 24-valve boxer engine with 260 hp and 350 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed Lineartronic CVT. Engine enhancements include an improved ECU, repositioned tumbler generator valve, and reshaped intake port.
The Outback also carries Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive system with Active-Torque Split and X-MODE for better driving performance on slippery or rough surfaces. When engaged, X-MODE matches engine, braking, and AWD performance to any given road condition.
If you’re looking for an all-new Legacy Wagon, we’re sad to say that you won’t find one. Because Subaru shelved that in this 6th generation model with the Outback now taking its place in the line-up.
The all-new Subaru Outback 3.6R is now available through Motor Image Pilipinas, priced at P2,288,000. Available exterior colors are Crystal Pearl White, Ice Silver Metallic, Dark Grey Metallic, Crystal Black Silica, Venetian Red Pearl, Deep Sea Blue Pearl, Platinum Grey Metallic, Lapis Blue Pearl, and Tungsten Metallic.
