The newest entry in the local subcompact sedan category has made its debut at the 2016 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). This is the all-new Chevrolet Sail, introduced by the bowtie brand’s local distributor The Covenant Car Company Inc. (TCCCI).
Designed to rival the likes of the Toyota Vios, Honda City, and Mazda 2 sedan, Chevrolet Ph said that the Sail aims to “set a new standard for the subcompact sedans” in the country.
Up front, the Sail is distinctively a Chevy with the brand’s signature dual-port grille design. In addition, it also has sweptback headlights, wraparound taillights, large bumpers, and fog lights. Chevrolet also equipped the Sail with a trunk lip spoiler which adds a touch of sportiness to its subcompact sedan challenger.
Interior details have yet to be confirmed but, we do know that the Sail comes with a sunroof which makes it the first model in its class to offer such feature.
Under the hood, the Sail is powered either by a 1.3-liter or a 1.5-liter engine. The former is mated to a 5-speed manual while the latter is connected to a 4-speed automatic gearbox.
Chevrolet said that the pricing for the all-new Sail starts at P688,000 to P818,888. The all-new Sail will be available in local showrooms by June 2016.
