MIAS 2026: BYD launches the Sealion 7 in the Philippines

BYD’s march to provide a comprehensive electric vehicle (EV) and hybrid lineup continues with a preview of two upcoming models, the Sealion 7 and the Atto 2. The Sealion 7 is now available for pre-ordering while the Atto 2 will be made available by the second quarter of 2026.

Starting with the looks, the Sealion 7 takes design cues from other BYD vehicles, particularly the aforementioned Sealion 6 and the sleek Seal sedan. Measuring 4,830 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, and 1,620 mm tall, it’s also larger than the Sealion 6, putting it in contention with other similarly sized crossovers from Tesla and Toyota.

Going back to the design, styling cues you’ll find familiar are the sleek headlights featuring a curving LED light strip below them, aggressive side intakes, and the subtle lower grille, which gives the front fascia a cleaner look. At the rear, you’ll find a light bar that spans the width of the tailgate, reminiscent of the Atto 3, a small lip spoiler, and a plastic trim piece completing the lower half of the rear bumper.

BYD Atto 2

As for the Atto 2, if the smaller number isn't enough of an indication, this will be the smaller sibling of the Atto 3 crossover. It's got a smaller footprint compared to the Atto 3 and that's because BYD is positioning it as a smart electric crossover for the urban jungle. Design wise, it looks like a condensed version of the Atto 3, featuring an almost similar, but slightly sharper front clip and rear end. Put it side by side with the Atto 3, though, and the smaller proportions of the Atto 2 will be instantly noticed. What sets it apart from its bigger brother aside from its size is the different design of its alloy wheels.

BYD Lineup

Specs for both cars are kept under wraps for now, but, customers can now pre-order the Sealion 7 for a P50,000 pre-order fee. In addition, BYD Philippines is also offering a limited-time MIAS-exclusive cash discounts of up to P220,000 for select models which include the Sealion 5 DM-i, Sealion 6 DM-i, Shark 6 DMO, and the BYD Tang DM-i. We'll keep you posted once the Sealion 7 DM-i and Atto 2 officially launches for the Philippine market.
