The Mitsubishi Destinator is launching locally on November 20, 2025, and ahead of its debut, Mitsubishi has shared news that makes us even more excited for its upcoming seven-seater crossover.
In addition to highlights like its fresh exterior and spacious seven-seater cabin, we can now add impressive crash safety to the list. The New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) has announced that the Destinator earned a five-out-of-five safety rating.
In its press release, the ASEAN NCAP noted that the Destinator scored 77.27 points across four categories. It scored 34.69 points in Adult Occupant Protection, followed by 16.54 points in Child Occupant Protection, 15.02 points in the Safety Assist assessment, and 11.02 points in Motorcycle Safety.
For context, Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) measures how well a vehicle protects adult passengers. Performance is evaluated through frontal and side impact tests, as well as seatbelt effectiveness. As expected, a higher AOP score means better protection for adult occupants.
Child Occupant Protection (COP) evaluates how effectively the vehicle safeguards children using child restraint systems (CRS). ASEAN NCAP examines crash-test performance using child-sized dummies, the availability and ease of use of ISOFIX anchor points, proper labeling, and the suitability of various child seat types and brands.
Safety Assist Technology (SAT), meanwhile, assesses a car’s active safety features. These cover features such as autonomous emergency braking, electronic stability control, blind spot monitoring, and other advanced driver-assistance systems.
Lastly, Motorcyclist Safety (MS) accounts for the high number of motorcycle riders in Southeast Asia. This category looks at features such as blind-spot detection, daytime running lights, and other technologies that help drivers spot or avoid motorcycles. A strong MS score indicates the vehicle not only protects its occupants but also helps keep vulnerable road users, like motorcyclists and cyclists, safer.
The ASEAN NCAP-tested model comes equipped with four SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and Mitsubishi Motors Safety Sensing. This suite includes advanced driver-assist features such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Detection, Auto High Beam, and Lane Departure Warning.
Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) is launching the Destinator this November 20, 2025. What we know so far is that the automaker’s latest seven-seater will feature a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and the latest Mitsubishi design philosophy. In addition, we now know that the Destinator is also an impressively safe machine for drivers and passengers, young or old.
