It seems that Mitsubishi is having a hard time to say its final goodbyes to the Lancer as they introduced a Limited Edition model.
In case you’re living under a rock, Mitsubishi announced last 2015 that the Lancer Evolution X will not have a successor. As such, recent reports state that Mitsubishi will end the production of the Lancer in August 2017.
Mitsubishi Motors North America said the Lancer Limited Edition (LE) offers unique trim package, complete with technology and styling. It has a new black paint finish on its 16-inch wheels, roof, upper grille, fender garnish, and side mirror covers. In addition, the vehicle comes with a sunroof.
With the addition of updated styling and advanced technology features, the Limited Edition Lancer is set to appeal to consumers who prioritize aesthetics and enjoy a connected car experience," said Mitsubishi Motors North America Executive president and chief operating officer Don Swearingen.
Cabin gets a unique touch too, as its steering wheel, shift knob, brake lever, armrest, and door trim get an exclusive black fabric and red stitching. The Lancer LE also has aluminum pedals and a 6.5-inch infotainment system with Smartphone Link for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Mitsubishi Motors North America said in a statement that the 2017 Lancer Limited Edition will be available later this month. Locally, we have yet to hear from Mitsubishi Philippines if they would bring the said model here. However, you do have to consider that SUVs, pickup trucks, MPVs, subcompact cars, and crossovers are the top-selling vehicles in the local market. So, bringing in a sedan could not be the best option for Mitsubishi Philippines but you also have to take into account that this is the last hurrah of the Lancer.
