After some time, the Mitsubishi Montero Sport gets two new variants on both ends of the spectrum. A base GLX 4x2 MT and a GT 4x4 line topper now comprise the lineup. This helps round out the variant list which has had the GT 4x2 as the top of the line option since the midsize SUV’s launch in 2019.
As a GT model, the new 4x4 line-topper has the same equipment as the GT 4x2 with the addition of a few more features. First off, an application is available that enables you to use your smartphone to lock the doors and control the rear tailgate. In the safety department, you get a knee airbag, on top of the dual front, side, and curtain sets the GT 2WD has. Being a 4x4 model, it also features Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD-II with off-road mode traction control.

Both models still are connected to Mitsubishi’s 8-speed automatic transmission and 2.4-liter MIVEC Clean Diesel engine which produces 176 hp and 430 Nm of torque. Just like the engine, the power and torque output remains the same across the entire lineup, even with these new models.
As for pricing, the GLX MT brings the lineup to more affordable territory coming in at only P1,565,000, while the GT 4x4 brings the price up to new highs, at P2,450,000.
