Mitsubishi Motors and its employees donated three million yen to build a new building for Camayse Elementary School in Santa Rita City, Samar State.
Construction ofthe new building began back in October 2018, with construction concluding in January 2019. The opening ceremony is slated in April.
The company’s STEP Fund, which came from donations made by employees and equivalent contributions from Mitsubishi Motors, has been in collaboration for many years with World Vision Japan (WVJ). World Vision (WV) selected Camayse Elementary School as a recipient of the donation. The project was was executed by the World Vision Development Foundation (WVDF), WV’s partner in the Philippines. WVDF helped engage the local community and carried out the construction plans of the new building, which was completed in January 2019.
Camayse Elementary School was selected for the donation because it was determined by WVJ that the teaching capacity of the school was limited to classroom student lessons. An additional classroom building was erected to house additional student lessons.
We would like to show our gratitude for the many years of support from Mitsubishi Motors STEP Funds. Thanks to the new, clean, and bright classroom, the learning environment for the Camayse Elementary School has been greatly improved, with the fourth and fifth grade classes now having dedicated classrooms. Going forward, all of the school’s children will be able to go to class in a comfortable and supportive environment.
The ASEAN region is of importance to Mitsubishi. The company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) to the area was materialized back in 2018, with the aim to make substantial contributions to the local communities. Mitsubishi, with its holdings in the region, contributes heavily to the local economies through its production and business operations across multiple countries in the region.
