In the United States, Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) field a particular lineup filled with crossovers and sedans. The brand’s lineup allowed it to rank third among 32 brands in America for the J.D. Power 2021 US Initial Quality Study (IQS).
J.D. Power is an entity that conducts studies using consumer-driven tests and research. The awarding body also provides useful consumer-oriented information as to the quality and value that vehicles bring to the market.
Among its North American offerings, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) shares two models, namely the Mirage G4, which was recently updated, and the Outlander, which is offered in the archipelago as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).
The two models are part of a lineup that helped Mitsubishi get an overall result for the IQS, which measures consumer sentiment following 90 days of new vehicle ownership. To add, the 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport finished second in the “Small SUV” class.
"The J.D. Power Initial Quality Study provides unparalleled insight into how new vehicle owners feel about their purchase in the critical first few months of ownership. We are thrilled to see that our vehicles deliver the quality and value that Mitsubishi Motors customers expect, and with the current sales success of the all-new 2022 Outlander and redesigned 2022 Eclipse Cross, we are excited for the future."
For the study, the IQS scores are determined by the number of problems experienced by the current model-year car owners per 100 (PP100) vehicles. The study covers 90 days, and like golf, a lower score indicates a higher quality car.
Mitsubishi Motors in America was able to improve its score by four points over its previous survey to 144 PP100, which got the brand’s ranking from sixth place to third place. Additionally, the Outlander Sport was able to get second place in the Small SUV class, one place up year-over-year.
