Mitsubishi has long been positioning itself as a leader in hybrid technology. The Outlander plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) launched in 2012, and it has come a long way since then.
The Japanese automaker has sold hundreds of thousands of units of its PHEV across the globe. Last year, Mitsubishi introduced the hybrid Outlander to the Philippines to much acclaim.
Now, Mitsubishi is preparing to release the 2022 Outlander PHEV globally. The brand has given us a sneak peek at the new hybrid crossover's design, and it's bolder-looking than ever before.
The new Outlander PHEV features Mitsubishi's Bold Stride design concept. The styling is clearly visible, starting with the crossover's evolved Dynamic Shield front fascia, which evokes the brand's other models like the Montero Sport and the Xpander Cross.
The design is further enhanced by thick character lines running across the side. There are also 20-inch wheels that sit above well-defined fender flares. Over to the rear, there are horizontal tail lights to finish off the crossover's wide stance. Ten colors will be available at launch, including the new Black Diamond.
On the inside, we can see some interior updates as well. Mitsubishi went for a more premium look here, and it shows. The colored accents give the Outlander PHEV a touch of personality while keeping the exterior's horizontal theme. The instrument cluster and infotainment unit display large and easy-to-read information.
The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is set for a global launch on October 28. There's no word yet on when the hybrid crossover will hit showroom floors. For now, Mitsubishi Philippines still sells the current-spec model, which starts at P2,998,000. As the brand already sells the model locally, we expect the new version to arrive here eventually. We'll have to wait when Mitsubishi announces official availability for the Philippine market.
