The Mitsubishi Versa Van makes a return to the Philippine market

After a 14-year absence, the Versa Van nameplate is revived.

It was the go-to car for outings, for meetups, and held an unofficial supporting role in many action movies and soap operas. You’d recognize this van from any angle, not because it’s a runway model but because of its rugged simplicity and the sheer number of them plying our roads back then. The Mitsubishi Versa Van was a champion for the people in many aspects before it quietly went away in 2012. Still, its legacy as a trusted car for families and businesses remains.

Now, though, Mitsubishi Motor Philippines has re-launched the Versa Van name after an absence of 14 years, and it’s just as versatile as it was back then. Based on the Nissan NV350, the Mitsubishi Versa Van features the same 2.5-liter diesel engine producing 127 hp and 356 Nm of torque. Paired with a robust five-speed manual transmission, the Versa Van has low-end grunt to ferry people and cargo anywhere with ease, whether it’s the hills of Baguio or stop-and-go traffic inside the city.

Inside, gone are the basic and utilitarian interiors of old, with the new Versa Van featuring a more comfortable but still flexible interior. According to Mitsubishi, the Versa Van is designed to deliver excellent space and accessibility. It features easily adjustable seats and a steering wheel, along with foldable seating that allows smoother passenger movement and more convenient entry and exit. Comfort is facilitated by ceiling-mounted air outlets for each row, providing consistent airflow throughout the cabin.

Cargo space is also a notable quality in the Versa Van, offering generous luggage space suited for daily operations. A wider rear door opening makes loading and unloading easier, a key advantage for tourism services and shuttle businesses. Locally, the Mitsubishi Versa Van is offered in a single GLX MT variant priced at P1,649,000, and is available in Silver Metallic and White Solid.
