Back in 2024, Mitsubishi showed off a new midsize SUV concept at the Philippine International Motor Show. It was called the DST Concept, and it gave people a preview of what could be the brand’s next seven-seater.
A few months have passed since its reveal, and now eyes are on the upcoming Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), opening July 24, 2025, where Mitsubishi confirmed a new model will debut. Based on their Challenge 2025 business roadmap, this could very well be the DST’s production-ready version.
The DST was made to be a family SUV with three rows of seats, enough space for everyone, and the kind of driving that works on both good and rough roads. Its look was based on a design theme called “Gravitas & Dynamism,” which gives it a wide stance, a strong-looking front, and a roomy interior. It also had blacked-out pillars and wraparound windows that made the cabin feel even bigger.
While Mitsubishi hasn’t officially confirmed the final name, speculation points to “Destinator,” based on a trademark filing reported by ridertua.com. The outlet also shared that the model has visual similarities to the XForce, but with a larger body to seat more passengers. The name Destinator hasn’t been officially announced, but its registration in both the Philippines and Indonesia adds to the likelihood.
The new SUV is expected to sit between the XForce and the Pajero Sport, targeting a sweet spot in Southeast Asia’s growing seven-seater segment. Reports suggest the price could land between Rp 400 million to Rp 600 million, which converts to around P1.6 million to P2.4 million. It’s also expected to share components with the Xforce, possibly including the engine, with a hybrid variant potentially added for the production model.
Mitsubishi plans to start building the SUV in Indonesia, where seven-seaters are very popular. It’s a smart move since there’s strong demand for this type of car in the region. The goal is to make it a practical and reliable option for families while also expanding Mitsubishi’s lineup.
If the rumors are true, Mitsubishi could release teasers leading up to the official reveal in Indonesia. Until then, we’ll be watching closely to see if the Destinator name makes the final cut, or if Mitsubishi has more surprises in store for its next seven-seater SUV.
