MMDA Number Coding

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) confirms that it will continue to implement the no window hour policy of the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP), also known as the Number Coding scheme.

In a report by GMA News Online, MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim says that they are currently reviewing the policy but as of now, they have no plans of changing the said scheme.

He also said that if there will be changes on the policy, they will only be minor as they have data that it was effective in lessening the travel time in EDSA. Although, he pointed out that it's still not enough and still needs to be improved.

The newly-appointed MMDA Chairman also believes that discipline is the key solution to our traffic woes, extending not only to the MMDA enforcers but to all road users. His primary move is to go back to basics, which is the proper implementation of rules and regulations.

To reiterate, UVVRP is implemented on major thoroughfares in Metro Manila from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday, except for regular holidays. Vehicles with license plates that end in 1 and 2 are not allowed to go out on Mondays; 3,4 on Tuesdays; 5,6 on Wednesdays; 7,8 on Thursdays; and 9,0 on Fridays.
