New 488 Pista is the most powerful supercar in Ferrari’s history

Ferrari has released a batch of teaser images of its new track-ready supercar – the 488 Pista. Its name goes well with its performance as ‘Pista’ means ‘track’ in Italian. Claimed to be the most powerful Ferrari V8 in history, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just a matter of 2.85 seconds, and has a top speed of 340 km/h.

When it comes to aerodynamics, the Italian brand integrated GTE features such as front F1-inspired S-duct and diffusers that has a ramp angle to make a strong suction for increased downforce. Not only that, the underbody vortex generators and the rear diffuser have improved and the carbon fiber rear wing has noticeably become larger. All these changes resulted to a 20% increase in the overall downforce.

Talking about performance, the 488 Pista seems to have the ability to outdo the Italian hottie, the 488 GTB. This new model has powerful performance that can deliver up to 711 hp and 770 Nm of torque, gaining 41 hp increase and difference of 10 Nm of torque from the 488 GTB. This monster is run by a 3.9L twin-turbo V8, which is then paired with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. Moreover, its weight is trimmed down to 1280 kg. dry. All these numbers result to a smoother, greater, and faster turbo response time. The new supercar also brags its intensified and better-sounding exhaust in all gears at all engine speeds.

In terms of technology, the 488 Pista supercar also borrowed useful features from the 488 Challenge GTE. It comes with Inconel exhaust manifolds, titanium connecting rods, carbon-fiber intake plenums, and a lightweight crankshaft and flywheel. For a better airflow, the air intake tunnels were relocated to the rear spoiler area.

In the effort to maximize the vehicle’s full potential and provide exceptional driving pleasure to both professional and non-professional drivers, the 488 Pista acquired an upgraded Slide-Slip Angle Control system. This system now comes with a world-first Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer (FDE), along with E-Diff3, F-Trac, and magnetorheological suspension. FDE uses a software to adjust brake caliper pressure at the limit to further improve the car's performance.

The 488 Pista has optional 20-inch carbon-fiber wheels. Other parts such as engine cover, bumpers, and rear spoilers were also coated with carbon-fiber. All is good right?
