Kia Philippines Motor Corporation (KPMC) has made a recent announcement regarding the appointment of Brian Buendia as their new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Buendia will assume the leadership role starting from July 1, 2023.
Back in 2019, Kia made its relaunch into the Philippine market under the automotive arm of Ayala Corporation (AC) Industrials, known as AC Motors. Ever since its relaunch, Kia has adopted the brand slogan "Movement that Inspires," reflecting its dedication to delivering customer satisfaction through its range of products and services.
Under the leadership of Manny Aligada, the current president, the company has achieved significant milestones. Since assuming the role, Aligada has successfully overseen the brand's relaunch in 2021, propelled Kia to become the top sales performer in the APAC region in 2022, and just recently, introduced groundbreaking vehicles like the EV6 to the market. These accomplishments of President Aligada, who is scheduled to retire on June 30, will serve as the strong foundation upon which Buendia will build.
“As Chief Operating Officer, Brian will lead the bolstering of Kia’s position in the industry rankings with the introduction of new models, and the strengthening of the distribution network in its dealerships which currently stands at 44 in strategic locations nationwide.”
Having joined AC Motors in 1998, Buendia brings with him extensive expertise in sales, business development, and network operations, earned over decades of experience. Under Buendia's leadership as KPMC COO, the brand's connection and resonance with Filipino motorists will be further strengthened. This will involve the implementation of enhanced and innovative aftersales services, a seamless nationwide expansion of the dealer network, and establishing a solid presence in the realm of sustainable mobility.
The recent introduction of the EV6 full-electric SUV marks a significant milestone towards Ayala's commitment to developing a comprehensive EV ecosystem in the country. With Buendia at the helm, KPMC is poised to deliver on these promises, fostering greater brand familiarity and affinity among a broader audience of Filipino motorists.
Speaking of his time working at KPMC, Aligada said, “It is an honor to have served our internal and external stakeholders who have continuously supported Kia, enabling it to be among the best-selling brands in the country,” further adding, “And it is with such pride when I say that Kia Philippines set the ideal tone in starting our path to a sustainable future of mobility by introducing the multi-awarded EV6 as the ultra-modern face of Kia with its innovation and technology features.”
