If you want peace of mind behind the wheel, this might be it. The E-HS7 and E-H7 both earned 5-star ratings in strict European crash tests. Hongqi is still gaining attention in the Philippine car market, and one of the ways it’s doing that is by being an achiever when it comes to safety. Its newest flagship electric vehicles, the E-H7 sedan and E-HS7 SUV, have both received a 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, a well-known car safety testing group in Europe, which adds to the E-HS9, which also got a 5-star rating earlier.
To get a 5-star rating from Euro NCAP, cars must go through a full set of tests that check how well they hold up in different crash and emergency situations. These include water submersion to check for flood protection and electrical leaks, as well as tests for fire, smoke, and explosion risks. Both the E-H7 and E-HS7 passed all tests without problems.
Crash testing also included head-on and rear-end collisions at speeds up to 100 km/h, followed by side-impact tests. In these situations, the car’s airbags worked properly, and the pillars stayed in shape without major damage. Another tough test involved dropping a heavy object, equal to 7.8 tons, on the car’s panoramic glass roof to check roof strength. Even with this, the car left enough space inside for passengers to stay safe.
Rashid Delgado, President of Hongqi PH and EVOxTerra and Co-CEO of TDG, shared that the company always puts the safety of both passengers and pedestrians first. He also mentioned that comfort and looks only go so far if the car can’t keep people safe, and that Hongqi aims to offer both.
With this new 5-star rating, Hongqi adds another strong point for its newest models. Both vehicles are also equipped with long driving range and premium looks. The E-H7 sedan starts at P2,280,000 and can drive up to 650 km on one charge. The E-HS7 SUV starts at P2,580,000 and can go up to 540 km on a full charge.
You can now see the Hongqi E-H7 and E-HS7 in showrooms across BGC, Alabang, Manila Bay, and Quezon City. But if you're skipping the mall trip this week, no worries. You can still get all the info online and view the full Hongqi lineup. Just check them out at AutoDeal.com.ph.
