Meet the 2025 Kia Bongo: old favorite, new features. Ever since 1980, the Kia Bongo, perhaps more familiar to you as the K2500, has been getting the job done, and now it’s coming back even better in 2025. The long-serving truck is moving into 2025 with a range of modern updates, making us wonder if it will soon hit the roads in the Philippines.
Serving since 1980, the 40-year-old Kia Bongo isn’t slowing down. Kia has smartly updated the Bongo to keep up with the times. It now includes handy features like power folding mirrors and cruise control. Available in both two and four-door versions, the Bongo is keeping its options open for different business needs. The introduction of an automatic transmission is a huge advantage, making it accessible to more drivers.
Inside, the Bongo now wears some nice touches, such as chrome door handles and a new parking brake lever. Safety has also been given an upgrade, with each model coming equipped with a fire extinguisher, which makes it more useful for different business uses, especially with its background as a workhorse. Additionally, the car also has modern features like a ventilated driver's seat and a large 10.25-inch infotainment screen.
The Bongo’s powertrain options include a 2.5-liter engine running on liquified petroleum gas (LPG), producing 157 hp and 294 Nm of torque. For those preferring manual transmission, the power slightly decreases to 136 hp and 255 Nm of torque. The truck also has a fully electric model that offers 181 hp and 395 Nm of torque, powered by a 58.8-kWh battery providing a range of 211 km. The electric version supports fast charging, able to recharge from 10% to 80% in just 47 minutes.
With a starting price of $14,700 (approximately P833,350.35) for the base model, the Bongo remains competitively priced. The top-end model doesn’t exceed $18,500 (approximately P1,048,774.25), even with its larger payload capacity. An electric variant is also available, starting at about $31,700 (approximately P1,797,088.85). Following its recent updates, the Bongo still offers great value for businesses needing an economical yet sturdy vehicle.
