Mitsubishi has added a new variant to its Triton lineup in Thailand. Called the Triton Street mega cab, this version is made for smoother roads rather than off-road trails. The most noticeable change is the front design. Instead of the usual square Dynamic Shield look, the Triton Street now has a trapezoid-shaped grille, a new light setup, and updated foglight housing. A large section of the front is painted in black, and only the Mitsubishi logo is finished in chrome.
This version comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, which match its road-focused design. Since it’s expected to stay mostly on paved roads, Mitsubishi also gave it forward collision mitigation, which adds safety for daily driving.
Instead of the usual square-shaped Dynamic Shield front, the Triton Street comes with a six-sided grille that separates the lights more clearly compared to the rest of the lineup. The front bumper has also been changed, now featuring a large black section with no fog lamps. The truck rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with a multi-spoke design. It also includes forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, which is part of Mitsubishi’s advanced safety features.
Under the hood, the Triton Street uses the standard version of the 4N16 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine, making 148 hp and 330 Nm of torque, delivered through a six-speed manual transmission that powers the rear wheels only. Unlike the Mega Cab Pro AT, there’s no automatic option for the Street. It also includes a brake-type active limited-slip differential, which helps improve grip when tackling corners.
As the most affordable Mega Cab-bodied model in Thailand, the features are kept simple. It comes with halogen headlights, fabric seats, two airbags, ABS with EBD, active stability control, traction control, hill start assist, and a 2-speaker sound system. Still, it offers a 10-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with basic comfort and tech. Available colors include Solid White, Blade Silver, and Graphite Gray. Mitsubishi backs it with a 5-year or 150,000-kilometer warranty, plus 24-hour roadside assistance and free labor for service for 5 years or up to 100,000 kilometers.
The Triton Street is sold exclusively in the Thai market, but thankfully, the Triton is available in the Philippines. You can check the full specs and available variants at AutoDeal.com.ph.
