The Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) is home to some of the most innovative creations to come from brands. It can also serve as a backdrop to reveal an all-new model for its lineup that has yet to be seen.
This time around, Toyota is showing the world a teaser to its newest subcompact crossover. Prior to this model, the CH-R won the hearts of many with its stellar looks and hybrid variants, but this year, Toyota is going to reveal a similarly sized crossover with a hybrid system to match.
According to reports in Europe, Matthew Harrison, the vice president of Toyota Europe, noted that a new car for the brand is imminent for 2020. In the European press release, it was stated that an all-new B-SUV, which is the equivalent of a subcompact crossover in the Philippines, will be unveiled and promises a blend of extensive small car experience with enviable SUV heritage. The company also stated that it will have all-wheel-drive and a hybrid powertrain. The unveiling is set to happen on March 3, 2020.

Based on the sketches and the teaser image released by Toyota Europe, we can guess that the model will be similar to the Toyota Raize. It is also said that the model will be more practical than the CH-R and will be longer, taller, and wider than the current-generation Yaris. Looking at the side profile sketch, we can see boxier lines similar to that of the RAV4 as well as a Lexus crossover-like C-pillar.
It is interesting to see a brand such as Toyota making more subcompact crossovers as of late. The CH-R was a pioneer with its quirky styling, then the Raize stoked more interest for the brand’s entry into the segment, but this particular model could hopefully make it to other parts of the globe, not just in Europe. Fingers crossed.
