The Toyota Innova has been in the local market for several years now. Its latest version also recently got a facelift that gave it a few upgrades, however, the model is already showing its age in the market with its newer competitors bringing more to the table. That said, Toyota is expected to unveil the all-new generation of the popular MPV for the Malaysian market this coming November.
This isn’t all, however, as reports have stated that Toyota may be thinking about renaming the Innova in certain markets to the Innova Zenix. The Japanese automaker has already registered the “Zenix” name for the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Furthermore, other reports have stated that the “HyCross” name, once thought to be the designation for the hybrid variant of the MPV to be unveiled soon might be region specific pointing to an India-only release.
There are also other major changes up ahead for the Toyota Innova reports have also stated that it will now come with a new monocoque chassis instead of its current chassis on frame setup. This could also point to its next-generation being front-wheel-drive with the use of the brand’s TNGA-C platform. Hybrid drivetrains are also said to be in the future of the Innova with specifics not yet being released to the public. As for its measurements, the next-gen Innova will reportedly be around 4.7 meters in length and will come with a 2,850mm wheelbase.
As for its design, we suspect that the MPV will retain its boxy overall look with vertical pillars along with a flat hood design. It could also come with sleeker headlights similar to what is seen in its Fortuner LTD and Corolla Cross brothers.
For now, it's a waiting game to see what Toyota has in store for its popular MPV as November is only a couple of weeks away. For more news and promos on cars like the Toyota Innova visit our website where we can connect you with the best deals nationwide.
