The hype for the next-generation Toyota Innova has slowly been building as Toyota Indonesia has just released an image teaser on its website for the upcoming MPV. After seven years of tenure on the market, the Innova will finally get a new model.
While the teaser doesn’t reveal too much about the next-generation Innova Hycross, what it shows is a new front fascia for the vehicle. The new design elements start with the sleek headlights, similar to what you would find on a Toyota Fortuner, a larger grille similar to what you would see on a Toyota Corolla Cross, and finally muscular hood lines which complete its more SUV-like design.
Aside from what is shown in the image, other details about the vehicle are still unknown. However, there are still rumors going about as to what the next-generation MPV will have in terms of features. For starters, there are claims that the all-new Innova will come with a different chassis. Instead of its current body-on-frame design, the MPV may shift to a unibody chassis which distances it from its former IMV platform siblings the Fortuner and Hilux.
With this shift in the platform, this could mean that the Toyota Innova will now become a front-wheel-drive. Other details are still uncertain especially when it comes to the engine options of the MPV. However, we are expecting a hybrid variant to come soon, and also an all-gasoline engine lineup is being predicted. This means that it could spell the end of the diesel engine options for the new Innova.
As for the launch date, Toyota Indonesia has yet to release any information about this. However, as they have already released a teaser image of the vehicle and we are pretty sure more are on the way, its official launch date could just be right around the corner with it happening within 2022.
