Nissan is on a roll with the Ariya, winning awards and recognition left and right across the globe. This time, the all-electric crossover makes headlines as it breaks into the “Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems” list for 2023.
One of the industry’s most innovative electric vehicles, currently, the Ariya is more than just a pretty face in the Nissan lineup. Underneath its gorgeous exterior is also a gorgeous interior, which was also recognized by the awarding body. Underneath that, still, is a powertrain that was listed as one of the ten best in the industry, currently, thanks to Nissan’s innovations with its e-4ORCE technology.
The Ariya is actually the second Nissan EV to receive this award, with the first being the Nissan LEAF back in 2011, which was also monumental for the Japanese brand as Wards recognized the LEAF for its powertrain and was the first-ever EV to receive the honor.
Judges in the Wards panel have stated that the e-4ORCE system provides great drivability for a family vehicle, and it offers strong passing power and an impressive mix of power and range options. Accelerating in the Nissan Ariya is also a trip, with some judges complimenting the pull that the motors are able to exert while the vehicle is in Sport mode.
Dual motors are to blame for the vehicle’s capability. It’s a 100-percent electric motor dive system, and all-wheel-drive is also a main hallmark of this system. On top of the raw acceleration that the system achieve, e-4ORCE also helps the Ariya remain in control even in a more dynamic driving environment. The system is able to manage power output and braking performance for smoothness and stability on almost any road. The system traces the driving line over any road surface, making up for any loss in traction by adjusting the output and braking of each wheel.
