Australia, the hometown of Crocodile Dundee and tons of animals that can kill you, is also the first country to see the 2023 Nissan Patrol Warrior—one more thing to love about our neighbors in the southern hemisphere. Made in collaboration with Premcar and Nissan Australia, the Patrol Warrior is an off-road-focused version of the Patrol SUV, now standing alongside the Navara Pro-4X Warrior and Navara SL Warrior in the brand’s vehicle lineup.

First, let’s talk about what’s new on the Patrol Warrior, starting with the newly attached off-roading equipment. To give the Patrol the capability to conquer terrain, it has undergone a comprehensive revamp of its suspension system. It features an expanded track width compared to the standard Patrol and a notable increase of 50 mm in ground clearance. All thanks to a 29 mm suspension lift along with 18-inch wheels wrapped in Yokohama G015 295/70 All-Terrain tires providing an additional 21 mm. As a result, the ground clearance elevates from an already steep 273 mm to an impressive 323 mm.

Additionally, it now has a remarkable 40-degree approach angle and a 23.3-degree departure angle. The vehicle's upgrades extend to a revamped Hydraulic Body Motion Control system and redesigned front springs. Changes to the Hydraulic Body Motion Control system were made to make up for the lack of an anti-roll bar. Why did they remove the roll bar you ask? That’s because anti-roll bars limit suspension articulation, which hinders a car’s off-road performance.  Further enhancements include the introduction of progressive rate rear bump-stops, multi-rate rear springs, and a substantial 48 kg boost in carrying capacity.

To make the Patrol a true warrior, the exterior has been upgraded as well. Visual changes include the beefy wheel and tire combination, a unique front bumper assembly, black fender flares, a towbar, strategically positioned recovery points, sleek black mirror caps, a black grille, and an array of Warrior decals and badges. To add to the rugged appeal, Premcar has meticulously designed a sturdy 2.5 mm thick steel bash plate, finished in a red hue.

Powering this beast is Nissan’s 5.6-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine, delivering 399 hp and 560 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. This formidable powerplant is paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission featuring Intelligent 4WD, complemented by a limited-slip differential at the rear. To give the Warrior a suitable war cry,  Premcar has also integrated a bi-modal exhaust system with advanced valve technology, affording drivers the ability to toggle the dual side-exit exhausts.

Enticing right? Unfortunately, the Patrol Warrior is only available in right-hand drive and is only currently available in Australia. If you happen to live there, or by some insane choice you plan to migrate there to own one, the Patrol Warrior comes with a starting price of $101,160 AUD, approximately equivalent to P3,687,000 when converted to Philippine pesos.
