The Nissan Motor Company has recently celebrated a new milestone for its popular all-electric vehicle the Nissan LEAF. The Japanese brand was happy to announce that it has produced over 500,000 units of the EV globally. The milestone was achieved through the brand’s Sunderland plant in England, almost a decade after the first model went on sale. The Sunderland plant alone has already built more than 175,000 LEAF cars since the start of production for the vehicle back in 2013.
Nissan states that with the Sunderland plant hitting that new momentous milestone it assures the buying public that it will continue to craft the LEAF to the highest of standards. This is to ensure that every LEAF that comes out of the factory embodies innovation, and excitement, all while striving to make advancements in clean mobility.
The Nissan LEAF is already an award-winning vehicle as it has won Car of the Year 2011 in Europe, World Car of the Year 2011, and Car of the Year in Japan for 2011 and 2012. In addition, the car has already won the hearts of hundreds of thousands of customers the world over. With many accolades under its belt, it's no wonder why many choose the Nissan LEAF to be their vehicle of choice when it comes to clean mobility.
With such a momentous occasion the question still remains, when will Nissan Philippines officially launch the LEAF into the local automotive market? The Japanese brand’s president Atushi Najima stated back in 2019 that the automaker has plans to launch the Nissan LEAF in 2020. However, due to the onset of the still ongoing pandemic that launch might be delayed to 2021. If the brand does, however, want to launch the LEAF into the country it still has time to do so as there are still a couple of months left in 2020. The question that now remains is if Nissan will launch the LEAF this year or wait till 2021 for a better market opportunity.
