Nissan has been quiet about what it has in store for fans this year, but this bit of news from the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon is worth raving about. The headline is that Nissan is updating the Z sports car.
The update brings changes to the exterior and a new paint scheme dubbed Unryu Green; aside from that, the Z is also undergoing mechanical work in the way of suspension upgrades. The first update you’ll spot on the refreshed Z is the slimmer, two-piece grille reminiscent of the S30 generation’s front clip and a new Z emblem replacing the Nissan badge up front.
Nissan says the changes up front aren’t purely cosmetic either. The revised bumper is said to cut front lift by 3.3 percent and reduce drag by one percent compared to the pre-facelift Z. The rest of the changes can be seen on the two-tone alloy wheels and the new Unryu Green paint, which is inspired by the S30’s Grand Prix Green paint. As for the back of the car, it remains virtually unchanged. Inside, the Z gets a new tan interior paired with black plastics, adding a retro touch to a modern car.
As mentioned earlier, the Z receives suspension upgrades in the form of larger-diameter monotube shock absorbers, designed to improve ride quality across the lineup. The Nismo variant goes further with bespoke tuning that balances performance and everyday usability, while also benefiting from more powerful brakes sourced from the now-discontinued R35 GT-R. Oh, and it now also has a manual transmission version.
No changes are made to the VR30DDTT V6 engine, meaning it still puts out 378 hp and 475 Nm of torque. After making its appearance at the Tokyo Auto Salon, its market launch in Japan is expected to take place in the summer of 2026. How long it will take for other markets to get it is currently unknown.
If you can’t wait for the facelift and just want the raw driving experience the Z can provide, the Z is available for purchase here in the Philippines. Visit the Z Car Guide on AutoDeal.com.ph for the full specs and a quick way to connect with legitimate Nissan sales agents.
