Since it first came on the market in 2007, the Nissan GT-R proved that you didn’t need a supercar to reach supercar-like speeds. The GT-R with its twin-turbo VR38DETT V6 could leave supercars in its wake on the road and on the track thanks to clever engineering and a cutting edge all-wheel drive system. What made the feat even more impressive was that the GT-R had four seats, and a spacious trunk. It was a sports car that you could not only daily, but could also embarrass cars with a higher price tag than it, what’s not to love?
This blend of performance, affordability, and practicality made the GT-R a favorite among motoring fans—including even the most devoted enthusiasts of its predecessor, the R34 Nissan Skyline.
However, all good things must come to an end and it’s time to bid farewell to the R35 GT-R. After 18 years of production, the final batches are set to roll out soon, exclusively for the Japanese market. With order books now closed, Nissan has officially ended the era of the long-running R35 GT-R.
“We have received many orders for the GT-R and have now finished accepting orders for the planned production quantity. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all our customers for their support since its release in 2007.”

If you’re wondering, the Nissan GT-R is still on sale here in the Philippines, but it is probably only until stocks last, so make the purchase now or forever hold your peace.

As for the R35’s successor, Nissan’s next big project remains uncertain. The Hyper Force Concept, unveiled in 2023, offered a glimpse of the future, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Additionally, Nissan executives have hinted at the possible revival of the Silvia nameplate. However, unlike the Hyper Force Concept, the Silvia’s return is still just an idea floating around.
