Atsushi Najima will be the new president and managing director for Nissan Philippines, effective April 1, 2019. Atsushi will report to Vincent Wijnen, senior vice president for sales and marketing at Nissan Asia and Oceania.
Najima will be based in Manila for his new role. He will be responsible for the development of business strategies to maximize overall performance. The brand’s availability will also be handled by the new president. Expanding the availability of the Nissan brand will also fall under the responsibilities of the president, as well as executing the brand’s midterm plan, Nissan M.O.V.E. to 2022.
With his rich experience in managing teams across multiple countries, I am confident that Atsushi will continue to drive the strong growth trajectory established by the current leadership team. Under the strong leadership of Ramesh Narasimhan, Nissan has seen significant growth in the promising Philippines market. In calendar year 2018, Nissan’s sales volume in the Philippines grew by 40% to an 8.7% market share,
Formerly the deputy general manager for Nissan’s regional financial management group in 2016, Atsushi Najima also spent 18 years at Procter & Gamble (P&G) across Asia. He has held various finance and general management roles in the Philippines, Singapore, and Japan prior to his appointment.
Ramesh Narasimhan will instead become the president for Nissan Thailand. Atsushi will be officially inaugurated after the Board of Directors Meeting in March 2019, and will assume his post starting April 2019.
With this move, we hope to see a sustained growth for Nissan in the Philippines, with continuous rise up in sales and prominence in the country.
