Nissan Philippines finished 2020 with Urvan sales overtaking the Terra. In total, the brand sold 21,751 vehicles last year which translates to a 49% decrease compared with the previous year’s tally.
The brand has garnered majority of its numbers from four of its strong nameplates, namely, the Navara, the Urvan, the Terra, and the Almera. For starters, Nissan Philippine’s best-selling model is the Navara. Specific numbers show that the brand sold 9,164 units of the midsize pickup, which goes to show that many Filipinos do appreciate the Navara, all thanks to its balanced handling system and commendable ride comfort because of its commendable coil spring suspension.
In 2019, the Terra came out second, but in 2020, it switched places with the Urvan. Now, the Urvan is hailed as the second best-selling model in the Nissan Philippines lineup, the passenger van garnering total sales of 5,138 units. The Terra, on the other hand, ended 2020 as third placer, with the brand selling 3,898 units.
Lastly, Nissan’s smallest offering, the Almera, sold 3,238 units. It is worth noting that the model already ceased local production at the brand’s Santa Rosa plant, and is therefore no longer available for sale. However, we might be seeing the all-new Almera soon, as it has been sighted on the road in a black camouflage a couple of times already.
The individual sales figures below consist the 21,749 units sold. Nissan Philippines says that the remaining two models in the equation are actually a pair of the Nissan LEAF.
- Navara – 9,164
- Urvan – 5,138
- Terra – 3,898
- Almera – 3,238
- Patrol Royale – 65
- Sylphy – 56
- X-Trail – 54
- Patrol – 53
- Juke – 47
- 370Z – 26
- GT-R – 9
- Altima – 1
It was disclosed that the brand purchased both LEAF units in order for it to be tested on Philippine roads. Given such an effort, the Nissan LEAF could possibly be launched in the local market anytime soon, ushering in a new era of electric vehicles in the country.
