The ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) has released the safety ratings of the Nissan Terra – and it’s looking really good for those who have bought or reserved for the car already and those who are yet to get one. Based on the ratings, the Terra gets a perfect score of five stars, making it one of the safest midsize SUVs in the region.
According to the ASEAN NCAP, the Terra scored perfect 5 stars in all of the organization’s assessment categories: Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), Child Occupant Protection (COP), and Safety Assist. It got a total of 83.17 points.
With its standard driver, passenger, side, and curtain airbags, the Terra did particularly well in frontal and side impact protection. It was rated no less than adequate for the driver and front passenger, albeit, the driver’s chest area got a marginal rating. Per the results: “The driver’s head and neck scored full four points in the test. However, in a real-world crash, there is a possibility for the chest and lower legs to sustain injury.” Nevertheless, it still scored full points to boost the SUV’s overall safety rating.
The Terra also scored perfect scores when it comes to COP, with demerits coming from the installation of the child seats only. The availability of driver-assistive technologies such as the Intelligent Rear View Mirror, Blind Spot Detection Technology, and Lane Departure Warning System – all part of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility – also aided in allowing the Terra to achieve the commendable results.
The ASEAN NCAP provides one of the most comprehensive and unbiased ratings in the region. The organization tests vehicles that are available in the Philippines, so you are assured that the ratings apply directly to what is sold in the local showrooms.
