The Arc Nissan Business Strategy

On March 25, 2024, Nissan announced that it is launching its new business strategy called “The Arc.”  As part of this business plan, Nissan will rejuvenate its lineup with the introduction of 30 models over the next three years. Among these, 16 will be hybrids and electric vehicles, while the remaining 14 will run on gas. Accompanying this announcement is a teaser video showcasing the shadowy outlines of most forthcoming cars. Pretty exciting.

Within The Arc framework, Nissan has devised various regional strategies for different markets around the globe. In Japan, for example, the company aims to revamp 80 percent of its passenger model lineup by introducing five entirely new models, while targeting a 70 percent electrification rate.

This plan will enable us to go further and faster in driving value and competitiveness. For the Oceania region, which includes the Philippines, the Japanese automaker intends to launch a one-ton pickup and introduce a C crossover EV. What these models will be is still up in the air, the most likely candidate for the one-ton pickup would be the all-new Navara which will share its components with the recently launched Mitsubishi Triton. After all, Nissan did say in the press release that they will “Continue to leverage the alliance with Renault and Mitsubishi Motors in Europe, LATAM, ASEAN and India.”

As for the identity crossover EV, we’re putting our bet on the Nissan Ariya, simply because it’s the only BEV crossover Nissan sells as of the moment. For those who were hoping for a GT-R successor in the announcement, sadly, Nissan has not provided any details on a new performance car that will replace the R35 GT-R.

Nissan anticipates that with its ambitious model launch plan, the automaker could achieve an additional 1 million unit sales compared to fiscal year 2023 and attain an operating profit margin of over six percent by the end of fiscal year 2026.
