The EV (Electric Vehicle) market has been on a roll here in the Philippines with various brands releasing different types of EVs, proving that there is indeed a market here in our shores. That being said, Peugeot seems to be the next manufacturer targeting to take a slice out of the EV market with a preview of their e-2008 on April 13, 2023 at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).
The e-2008 is powered by a 50 kWh electric motor making 134 hp and 260 Nm of torque sent only to the front wheels. Seeing as EV cars produce all of its power almost instantaneously, we can expect brisk acceleration numbers for this small crossover. A full charge can also get you up to 320 km of range, making it more than enough for a week’s worth of commuting around the bustling streets of Metro Manila. Should you need a quick top-up, an available 100 kW fast charger can enable the car to charge from zero to 80 percent in as little as 30 minutes.
“The unveiling of the PEUGEOT e-2008 at the MIAS is intended to give our customers a glimpse into the electrification of the Peugeot lineup. PEUGEOT has been pioneering electric vehicles since 1941, and the coming of the e-2008 to the Philippines culminates more than 80 years of expertise,”
Alongside the e-2008, Peugeot Philippines will also showcase other models in its stable including the gas-powered 2008, 3008 SUV, 5008 SUV, and Traveller Premium. Test drives for the vehicles mentioned as well as special promo prices are also available throughout the duration of MIAS 2023.
The preview of the e-2008 proves that Peugeot is keen on entering the EV market locally. The e-2008 will mark the first EV for the brand in the country should Peugeot Philippines ever consider making it available to Philippine car buyers.
