PIMS 2026: Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV previewed ahead of launch

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) previewed the Outlander PHEV at the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show. Now featuring a reworked powertrain, bigger batteries, and more tech features, the all-new Outlander is shaping up to be a massive upgrade compared to its previous generation.

The Outlander PHEV has made its mark before as a versatile crossover with a super efficient powertrain, after a short hiatus it’s back with Mitsubishi's latest plug-in hybrid technology and it still comes with the brand's renowned Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system.

Under the hood is a 2.4-liter DOHC MIVEC gasoline engine paired with front and rear electric motors. The gasoline engine alone produces 133 hp and 195 Nm of torque, while the front motor delivers 114 hp and 255 Nm and the rear motor contributes 134 hp and 195 Nm. Power is supplied by a 22.7-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, allowing the crossover to operate in pure EV mode.

The Outlander PHEV measures 4,720 mm long, 1,862 mm wide, and 1,751 mm tall, riding on a 2,704 mm wheelbase. Mitsubishi's Super All-Wheel Control system comes standard, working alongside Active Yaw Control, Active Stability Control, and Terrain Control to help improve traction and handling in varying road conditions.

Inside, the Outlander PHEV features a modern and technology-focused cabin. Drivers are greeted by a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster paired with a 12.3-inch Smartphone-Link Display Audio system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An eight-speaker Yamaha Premium audio system, wireless charging pad, head-up display, and triple-zone automatic climate control further enhance comfort and convenience.

The cabin has also been upgraded. Front occupants benefit from power-adjustable leather seats with heating, ventilation, memory, and lumbar support functions. Rear passengers receive reclining second-row seats with a 60:40 split-folding configuration, while a panoramic sunroof with a power tilt-and-slide function helps create a more open atmosphere inside the vehicle.

On the exterior, the Outlander PHEV features Mitsubishi's signature Dynamic Shield design language, complemented by LED lighting, sequential front turn signals, rain-sensing wipers, silver roof rails, heated power-folding side mirrors, and a hands-free power tailgate. The Outlander rides on 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 255/45 R20 tires.

As for safety features, it comes equipped with multiple airbags, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, Automatic High Beam, Driver Attention Alert, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, and a Multi-Around Monitor camera system. Adaptive Cruise Control is also standard.

There are no prices yet for the Mitsubishi Outlander, but MMPC has set the date for the official launch at August later this year, meaning we won’t have to wait long for this crossover to hit the market once more.
