PIMS 2026: Suzuki launches the all-new e-Vitara in the Philippines

It's been a long time coming. Suzuki Philippines, a brand best known for its tough Jimnys and fuel-sipping mild-hybrids, has taken its boldest step yet,  and it's a fully electric one. After months of anticipation following DOE certifications and LTO homologation papers, Suzuki Auto Philippines has officially launched the all-new e-Vitara at the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show, marking the brand's first-ever entry into the battery electric vehicle segment.

Starting with the looks, the e-Vitara has a familiar silhouette. It’s boxy, compact, and with enough muscle at the sides to look rugged. At 4,275 mm long and 1,800 mm wide, it slots comfortably into the subcompact crossover space Filipino buyers know well. The 2,700 mm wheelbase bodes well for rear-seat comfort, and 180 mm of ground clearance means it won’t be troubled by most of the roads inside or outside Metro Manila. Ride quality is handled by MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link rear setup, while 225/55 tyres and 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels give it a confident stance.

Powering this crossover is a single front-mounted electric motor that produces 128 kW or 172 hp and 193 Nm of torque through a single-speed drive. The sprint from zero to 100 km/h takes 8.7 seconds, with a top speed of 150 km/h. The headline figure, though, is the 475 km of claimed range on a full charge. To put that into perspective, that can take you from Manila to Legazpi without stopping. Charging is done via a Type 2 AC inlet or CCS2 DC fast-charge port, with energy consumption rated at 137 wh/km.

Inside, the e-Vitara’s standard kit includes automatic air conditioning, an electric parking brake, wireless charging, 12-color ambient lighting , and USB ports front and rear. Keyless entry and push-button start are standard across the board, and luggage capacity sits at 306 liters with the rear seats up.

Being a modern electric crossover, the e-Vitara comes with a loaded safety package. Suzuki's Dual Sensor Brake Support II detects vehicles, motorcycles, cyclists, and pedestrians. Lane departure prevention, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and adaptive high beam assist are all on board. Passive safety covers seven airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program, hill hold control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a full 360-degree parking camera system.

Suzuki Philippines finished 2025 in a strong third place among CAMPI members, and the e-Vitara looks like the start of a next chapter. The Suzuki e-Vitara comes in at P2,020,000 for the sole GLX variant.
