Porsche engineers shared that the upcoming Cayenne Electric performed better than the petrol version.

The 2026 Porsche Cayenne Electric is turning out to be more capable off-road than expected. According to Michael Schaetzle, Vice President of the Cayenne model line, the electric version performed better than the petrol model during both simulation tests in Germany and desert testing in Dubai. He mentioned that the smooth and instant delivery of electric power helped the SUV climb and handle rough surfaces more easily.

The Cayenne Electric will offer an optional Offroad Package that increases its approach angle to 25 degrees and raises its air suspension to 245 millimeters in off-road mode. It also keeps the same 3.5-tonne towing capacity as the petrol and hybrid versions, which will continue to be sold alongside the new electric model.

Porsche’s SUV Sales and Marketing Director Dirk Britzen also noted that towing will naturally affect the electric SUV’s range, just as it does for fuel-powered vehicles. The Cayenne Electric has a rated range of up to 642 kilometers (WLTP) on a full charge. To test its towing ability, Porsche engineers pulled a company speedboat between Salzburg and Stuttgart, a distance of about 380 kilometers.

Built on an 800-volt electrical system, the Cayenne Electric supports fast charging of up to 400 kW. Porsche said it can charge from 10 to 80 percent in under 16 minutes, emphasizing the importance of consistent charging performance during development.

The Cayenne Turbo Electric will be the most powerful Porsche yet, producing up to 850 kW and 1,500 Nm of torque with launch control. Despite weighing around 2,645 kg, the model maintains balance and control thanks to its low battery placement and active suspension system. Schaetzle mentioned that the setup gives the SUV a stable, lighter feel even with its heavier build.

The new Cayenne Electric is expected to go on sale globally by mid-2026. While there’s no confirmation yet if it will reach the Philippines, you can check out Porsche’s current lineup at AutoDeal.com.ph
