Sauber F1 team confirmed that their driver Pascal Wehrlein will sit out the upcoming Chinese Grand Prix (GP) this weekend. The German driver will miss 2 races in a row as he recovers from his big crash at the Race of Champions (ROC) last January.

Sauber F1 Team estimates that Wehrlein will be able to make his comeback at either the Bahrain GP on April 16, 2017 or the Russian GP happening on April 30. While Wehrlein works to regain his fitness condition, he will again be replaced by Ferrari test driver Antonio Giovinazzi.
For me the most important is that I can train intensively to ensure a 100 percent performance from my side as soon as possible,” said Sauber F1 Team Driver Pascal Wehrlein.
The Italian test driver Giovinazzi showed promise at the Australian GP last month despite getting the call in the eve of the qualifying session in Melbourne. Giovinazzi managed to snag 16th in qualifying and was able cross the line in 12th place.
