Following its global debut, the highly anticipated all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC is now available for customers in the Philippines. On June 21, 2023, at the Mercedes-Benz showroom located in BGC, the Auto Nation Group officially launched the second-generation GLC. The latest GLC model has increased in size and offers many advanced technological features, and most importantly, a much more powerful engine.
On the outside, the new look of the GLC is more in line with the C-class sedan it is based on. Its exterior design showcases a slightly revised front fascia and plastic cladding while carrying over some recognizable features like the distinct triangular taillights.
In terms of dimensions, the GLC has a length of 4716 mm, a width of 1890 mm, and a height of 640 mm. In the local market, the GLC is exclusively available in the Avantgarde trim, so sadly, there’s no AMG version for the speed freaks. The exterior design of the Avantgarde GLC features a tasteful and generous use of chrome trim, complemented by a sleek "single bar" grille and 19-inch, 10-spoke wheels, the whole look is completed by the GLC’s more aerodynamic roofline giving it a sportier appearance than before.
Moving to the interior, the GLC once again takes inspiration from the C-Class. The dashboard features a large 12.3-inch instrument screen, providing a visually impressive display. The 11.9-inch touchscreen unit incorporates the latest MBUX software, offering a seamless and intuitive user experience. This head unit is complemented by a 15-speaker Burmester 3D surround sound system for a crisp and clean listening experience. Furthermore, the GLC includes Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing convenient connectivity options.
The dashboard showcases an elegant silver-gray diamond pattern trim, complemented by black Artico man-made leather upholstery. The front seats are electronically adjustable and come with a heating function, not that you’d use it here in the Philippines. Moving to the back, the rear seats can be conveniently folded down in a 40:20:40 split configuration, allowing for flexible cargo arrangements. Fold the rear seats down and the initial 620-liter boot capacity goes up to an impressive 1,680 liters.
Pop open the hood and you will find a 2.0-liter in-line-four gasoline engine featuring an integrated starter generator, giving it mild hybrid capabilities. This powertrain configuration allows for a power output of 204 hp and a torque of 320 Nm. To ensure smooth and efficient performance, a nine-speed automatic transmission distributes power to all four wheels. Additionally, the vehicle includes a dedicated off-road mode if you ever decide to go off the beaten path.
The Mercedes GLC we get here in the Philippines comes in the lone GLC200 4Matic variant which can be yours for the humble price of P5,190,000.
