The GT350 Mustang began as Shelby American’s vision of a track-ready Mustang, capable of handling the demands of racing. Since then, Shelby-branded Mustangs have either been manufactured as factory Ford Performance models or custom builds by Shelby American. This time though, the latest GT350 is a project done solely by Shelby American.
This new GT350, based on the S650 Mustang, is officially named the 2025 Shelby GT350. The exterior features exclusively Shelby badging, with even more Shelby branding adorning the interior. Under the hood, supercharged models display "Shelby Performance" engraved on the intake cover, though the Mustang name remains subtly embossed on the plastic radiator cover.
Starting with power, Shelby American swapped the high-revving 5.2-liter flat-plane crank V8 to the Mustang’s 5.0-liter V8, now paired with a Whipple supercharger. Combined with a Borla cat-back exhaust system, the supercharged V8 produces an impressive 810 horsepower. A naturally aspirated version of the GT350 is also available for those who desire a more tame version.

The GT350 is just the start. A track-oriented GT350R, exclusively equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, is also in the works. This race-ready variant boasts a range of performance-focused upgrades, including a carbon fiber interior tub, optional carbon fiber racing seats and harnesses, carbon fiber trim, an integrated roll cage, and a Trans Am-spec high-speed carbon fiber aero package. Additional features include fully adjustable JRI race struts and shocks with remote reservoirs, ProSystems Alcon racing brakes, and extensive chassis enhancements to optimize track performance.

According to Shelby American, the street-focused GT350 model will be produced in just 562 units, while the GT350R will be even more exclusive, with only 36 examples planned. Still, if you’ve got lots of cash and a passion for driving, it might be worth fighting for one.
