The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation will be scheduling a “system enhancement” from June 1 to 6, 2021. Starting tomorrow, the lines at the toll gates of the expressway will be longer than usual.
Several toll booths will be closed as the system undergoes some needed improvement. However, to ensure an acceptable flow of traffic, the NLEX Corporation will be staggering its system enhancements by closing only certain gates on certain days.
The plazas affected are Ciudad de Victoria, Tambobong, and Sta. Rita. From June 1 to 2, these booths will be closed. Following this, from June 3 to 4, the X02 northbound Pulilan exits and San Fernando exits will be closed to traffic. X02 southbound in Pulilan and San Simon will also be temporarily closed.
Finally, S04 and X02 southbound exists in Meycauayan and Sta. Rita will be closed on from June 5 to 6; X07 and X04 exits of Tabang and Balagtas will also be closed as well.

June 1 to 2
- Ciudad de Victoria - Northbound exit X03
- Tambobong - Northbound exit X02
- Sta. Rita - Northbound exit X06
June 3 to 4
- Pulilan - Northbound exit X02, Southbound exit X02
- San Simon - Southbound exit X02
- San Fernando - Northbound exit X02
June 5 to 6
- Meycauayan - Southbound entry SO4
- Tabang - Northbound exit X07
- Balagtas - Northbound exit X04
- Sta. Rita - Southbound exit X02
The corporation did not mention specifics on the enhancements to be made. It is likely that the company will be upgrading or tweaking its RFID detection system or installing a new sensor altogether. Currently, motorists have to tap their RFID cards at the gate’s terminal if the tag fails to read. Other exits and entrances to the expressway will be available during these enhancement dates, but one less booth to line up to may lead to a bottleneck for motorists. Expect a build-up in traffic when either exiting or entering the toll gates and plazas in the coming days.
