September 13, 2023, is the day the Honda CR-V officially makes its debut here in the Philippines, but before that, the ASEAN NCAP has given the people more reason to get excited about the next-gen CR-V.
Just recently, the ASEAN NCAP thoroughly tested the 2024 Honda CR-V in several safety areas, and Honda’s crossover SUV’s results are nothing short of impressive. The 2024 CR-V, received 39.31 out of 40 for Adult Occupant Protection, 17.97 out of 20 for Child Occupant Protection, 18.57 out of 20 for Safety Assist Technology, and 11.32 out of 20 for Motorcyclist Safety. These outstanding results have earned the vehicle a 5-star rating in each of these areas, culminating in an impressive overall score of 87.16 out of 100.
The specific model that the ASEAN NCAP tested comes equipped with a comprehensive range of safety features. These include eight airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR) for both front and rear seat occupants, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) for City, Inter-Urban, and Pedestrian scenarios, Auto High Beam (AHB), Pedestrian Protection technology, and Child Presence Detection (CPD) across all its variations.
Furthermore, the model provides advanced safety assist technologies, available either as standard features or optional add-ons. These technologies comprise Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), and Driver Attention Monitor (DAM), collectively offered through the Honda Sensing package. Additionally, the passenger side is equipped with Blind Spot Visualization through Honda LaneWatch.
In addition, the latest CR-V also offers technologies designed to mitigate collisions with motorcyclists, namely BSV, AEB, and FCW for motorcycles. Additionally, the CR-V is equipped with Child Presence Detection (CPD), an alert system designed to prevent incidents involving children being inadvertently left inside the vehicle.
The 2024 CR-V is coming to our market on September 13, 2023. If equipped with the same features as the EL- AWD variant from Thailand tested by the ASEAN NCAP, this upcoming crossover will be one of the safest cars on Philippine roads.
